LA BOTTE DEI CEPPI ANIMATI. Il Capolavoro dell’Artista Ezio Ferraris

L’apoteosi monumentale della cifra artistica dell’artista astesano Ezio Ferraris ha trovato un’eccellente vetrina. Da domani, sabato 11 settembre, la gigante botte artistica dell’estroso interprete della creatività radicata sulle vigne sarà infatti esposta sotto i portici di Palazzo Michelerio in occasione della Douja d’Or 2021, una delle più importanti manifestazioni enologiche nazionali e certamente l’eccelsa nella terra della Barbera Docg e dell’Asti Docg, per tutta la durata dell’evento.

Si tratta di una botte di 25 ettolitri che l’artista Ferraris, esponente di spicco dell’associazione Art & Wine Club di Barolo, ha inorpellato con le sue inimitabili raffinatezze stilistiche. Ma rappresenta un vero unicum a livello mondiale in quanto impossibile da riprodurre.

Di essa, infatti, non sono destinate a stupire solo le decorazioni esterne realizzate con materiali delle vigne, come tutte le numerose tele di Ferraris, ma anche l’incantesimo del suo interno, corredato da ceppi secolari di foggia antropo-zoomorfa, che non giungono da sculture manuali bensì da selezioni operate dall’artista su migliaia di radici in una collezione unica al mondo. A descrivere le meraviglie della Botte dei Ceppi Animati è lo stesso artista.

«La facciata della botte è realizzata con elementi che fanno parte del mondo della viticoltura Astesana: zolfo, poltiglia bordolese, cristalli di solfato di rame, tralci, viticci, foglie di vite che diventano farfalle e molto altro ancora – dice Ferraris – All’interno di essa ci sono ceppi di vite centenari, già esposti nel Museo del Castello di Grinzane Cavour per sette anni, con portinnesto Rupestris du Lot e Rupestris Golia su piedistallo girevole. Impreziositi da giochi di luce fredda e calda. Inoltre la botte contiene due opere con vero tartufo bianco e nero opportunamente trattato. Ad esse è stato correlato un sensore che emette profumo di Tuber Magnatum Pico».

La botte è destinata quindi a suscitare grande attenzione sia tra il pubblico profano di arte che tra i più attenti addetti ai lavori. Ma per chi segue Art & Wine News questa non rappresenta altro che la naturale evoluzione dell’espressione artistica di Ezio Ferraris che si è già reso protagonista a Castiglione Falletto con la realizzazione di ben quattro barriques, da quella dei 5 draghi a quella dei cuori, per il percorso Barriques Paintings Street creato intorno al castello del borgo medievale per intuizione del critico d’arte Fabio Giuseppe Carlo Carisio, presidente di Art & Wine Club, e grazie al sostegno dell’Amministrazione Comunale castiglionese guidata dal Sindaco Paolo Borgogno.

Ma non è certamente la prima volta che le opere materiche di Ezio Ferraris assumono una visibilità importante. Nel maggio 2020, infatti, inaugurò la mostra Arcobaleni in Vigna nel Castello di Roddi che ottenne una notevole affluenza di visitatori fino all’autunno grazie alla gestione delle visite guidate da parte della Barolo & Castles Foundation e all’impegno personale della guida turistica Sara Abbadessa e dei ragazzi dello Yep di Roddi. Proprio in quella occasione, nel periodo autunnale, l’esposizione fu arricchita dalle prime opere con i tartufi veri, rese multisensoriale da un’ingegnosa invenzione dell’artista che permette di sentire il profumo dei nobili funghi ipogei.

L’esposizione della botte gigante per la Douja d’Or di Asti rappresenta la conferma delle potenzialità di un artista che, se non perderà il filo della sua creatività a causa del successo, merita una grande affermazione e promozione da parte della comunità attese.

The monumental apotheosis of the artistic figure of the Astesan artist Ezio Ferraris has found an excellent showcase. From tomorrow, Saturday 11 September, the giant artistic barrel of the imaginative interpreter of creativity rooted in the vineyards will in fact be exhibited under the arcades of Palazzo Michelerio on the occasion of the Douja d’Or 2021, one of the most important national wine events and certainly the excellent in the land of Barbera Docg and Asti Docg, for the entire duration of the event.

It is a 25-hectolitre barrel that the artist Ferraris, a leading exponent of the Art & Wine Club of Barolo, has embellished with his inimitable stylistic refinements. But it represents a true unicum in the world as it is impossible to reproduce.

In fact, not only the external decorations made with materials from the vineyards, like all the numerous canvases by Ferraris, are destined to amaze, but also the enchantment of its interior, accompanied by centuries-old stumps of anthropo-zoomorphic style, which do not reach from manual sculptures but from selections made by the artist from thousands of roots in a unique collection in the world. The artist himself describes the wonders of the Barrel of the Animated Vine-stocks.

«The facade of the barrel is made with elements that are part of the world of Astesana viticulture: sulfur, Bordeaux mixture, copper sulphate crystals, shoots, tendrils, vine leaves that become butterflies and much more – says Ferraris – Inside of it there are century-old vine stocks, already exhibited in the Castle Museum of Grinzane Cavour for seven years, with rootstock Rupestris du Lot and Rupestris Golia on a revolving pedestal. Embellished with plays of cold and warm light. In addition, the cask contains two works with real black and white truffle suitably treated. A sensor that emits the perfume of Tuber Magnatum Pico has been correlated to them ».

The barrel is therefore destined to arouse great attention both among the profane public of art and among the most attentive insiders. But for those who follow Art & Wine News this represents nothing more than the natural evolution of the artistic expression of Ezio Ferraris who has already made himself a protagonist in Castiglione Falletto with the creation of four barriques, from that of the 5 dragons to that of hearts, for the Barriques Paintings Street path created around the castle of the medieval village thanks to the intuition of the art critic Fabio Giuseppe Carlo Carisio, president of the Art & Wine Club, and thanks to the support of the Castiglionese Municipal Administration led by the Mayor Paolo Borgogno.

But it is certainly not the first time that Ezio Ferraris’s material works have taken on an important visibility. In May 2020, in fact, he inaugurated the Arcobaleni delle Vigne exhibition in the Roddi Castle which obtained a significant turnout of visitors thanks to the management of the guided tours by the Barolo & Castles Foundation and the personal commitment of the tour guide Saara Abbadessa and the boys of the Yep by Roddi.

The exhibition of the giant barrel for the Douja d’Or in Asti represents the confirmation of the potential of an artist who, if he does not lose the thread of creativity due to his success, deserves a great affirmation and promotion by the expected community.
